Typical Cases
A typical case at my practice is a collision involving a bicycle and a motor vehicle. The most common are cars and trucks turning left in front of an oncoming bicycle, turning right after passing a bicycle, or hitting a bicyclist from behind. Some less typical cases are bicycle manufacture, assembly and repair negligence resulting in injury.
The Claim process is:
- Investigation– fact, medical record, and bill gathering
- identifying at-fault parties
- identifying available sources for compensation
- negotiations with insurance companies
- settlement, mediation or lawsuit
- negotiations with health insurance over reimbursement rights
The process may take up to two years depending upon speed of the victim’s recovery and whether litigation is required to obtain just and fair compensation for the injuries.
